Nice, tasteful MSI dragon logo on side of card that lights up if you have a windowed case. Cons: You've seen in other reviews and possible elsewhere online that people are having a lot of complaints about coil whine with a number of cards, including this one. They're not wrong. However, my experience has been that if you give it some time to break the card in properly, it will go away.
My experience was that the card did not coil whine out of the box, nor did it after multiple days of running the Unigine Heaven benchmark and Folding Home. However, one day I came down in the morning to find the card whining badly, to the point you could clearly hear it, even with headphones on. I was going to RMA it the following day, then it whine went away entirely. It returned two days later, lasted another day, went away and hasn't returned since.
This may not be the case with everyone. Some cards never get whine, some it never goes away. Be prepared to RMA your card if the whine is persistent but if you hear it, run Folding Home, Unigine Heaven or something similarly tough on the card overnight or for a couple of straight days if you can and at least in my case, this break-in solved the issue.
The only reason this card doesn't get 5 eggs is because frankly, this shouldn't be necessary and they should have used high enough quality parts to ensure there was no whine at all, especially on the premium Golden Edition card. Now that the whine has stopped, I am absolutely loving this thing. The card is also quite heavy because of the copper cooling apparatus so make sure you secure it well.
I've pushed it higher and it was stable, though artifacts were observed sometimes. I plan to keep pushing this higher as because of the incredible cooling, you can boost the core voltage much higher without coming near the thermal limit of the card. Even this overclock makes a difference though and it was easy to do. Pros: For reference I have an iK running at stock speed, 4. Overall Review: As for the 3.
If I ever have a scenario where this limits me I might change my mind but right now no issues. Pros: Great card. The card runs great with no coil whine. I've had no heating issues and feel the card was definitely worth the extra expense. I've been running all my games at maxed out settings. Pros: Could not be happier.
This card just chomp through at any game I throw at it. Assetto Corsa maxed out with interior view fps for example. No coil whine at all, silent, pretty and very heavy and this thing looks very sturdy. Best bang for the buck. I was running with a GTX 1. It came with a code and I chose Far Cry 4 and it run this game very smoothly all maxed out.
Overall Review: I'm quite happy that I bought one because I see that they are out of stock and unless MSI decide to build some more, the one that bought one will be from a very select club. Upgraded from a GTX This card doesn't even run hot, and the previous one was a toaster. Extremely quiet and looks cool with the dragon on the backplate. Configurable LED logo for the win. Future-proofing for the win. Less power consumption than the AMD equivalent. Overall I am a very happy camper.
Luckily I bought one before it got sold out again. Cons: Mine had a wicked coil whine. It's more than likely going to happen to every card out there with this generation so it was expected. What I did was fire up Windows index and played Skyrim on maxed settings for a while. Eventually the whine subsided and now it doesn't do it anymore. DON'T return this card if it has a coil whine, just "break it in" and keep using it until it stops.
Not worth knocking down an egg for. As for the ram issue, who cares? You're definitely getting your money's worth with this card. And you never get the full amount of advertised space for any computer part anyways. Look at your computer's RAM and boot disk info Overall Review: Intel i5 Quad 3.
